It’s the end of the year and boy has it been an exciting one here at Not Ashamed of the Gospel.
God has really done a wonderful work through this website. I give Him ALL the glory for ALL the good that has come as a result of this blog.
As the year is ending, I thought I’d share with you some of the numbers behind the blog. I thought you’d be interested in a behind-the-scenes look at who it is that visits the blog, and what the most popular posts are.
In this week’s blog post, I’m going to share with you the most popular blog posts of all time. In next week’s blog post, I’m going to share with you the most popular blog posts of 2014.
I think in next week’s blog post you’ll see even more what a wonderful work God did here on the blog, and I give Him ALL the credit.
The Numbers Behind the Blog in 2014
In 2014, there were 134,898 people who visited the Not Ashamed of the Gospel blog. All together, the blog had 221,605 pageviews.

49.8% of all the visitors were men. 50.2% of all the visitors were women.
24.5% of the visitors were in the 25 to 34 age group. 22.8% of visitors were in the 18 to 24 age group. 18.8% of visitors were in the 35 to 44 age group. You can refer to the figure below to see the breakdown of all the different age groups.

As I was looking through Google analytics, I realized that this year I received a bulk of my traffic from organic searches.
If you’re not familiar with what an organic search is, then here’s an example. An organic search is when someone goes to Google, types a search term, and then Google returns a result that isn’t paid for by the owner of that website.
That’s why it’s called organic, because the traffic occurs naturally.
A non-organic search would be something like a paid ad on Google, like the one in the image below. It’s a result for a search for the word “shoes” on Google.

Examples of non-organic traffic to a website are the ones that are a result of advertisements.
These Results Are Unexpected
When I first started this blog, I set out to rank on Google for words like “evangelism” and “share your faith.” I knew that my audience was going to be primarily Christians, and I wanted to encourage Christians all over the world to share their faith.
At the same time, I had experienced good success on Twitter with getting thousands of followers. I wanted to help you with achieving the same results. So I also began to write articles about Twitter.
As a result, Google began to rank my site in the top rankings for Twitter related articles.
I didn’t end up ranking for words like “evangelism” or “share your faith”. Instead, I began to rank for words like, “get thousands of Twitter followers,” and “how to make your tweets go viral.”
This was an interesting surprise that was definitely not expected.
Now what I’m finding out is that I have a mixed audience. Some of my visitors are Christians, and some are not.
Most Christians come to visit the blog to learn about sharing their faith, or to get access to the free Twitter guide to getting thousands of followers.
But non-Christians only visit the blog to sign up for the free Twitter guide, or to learn from one of the how-to articles that are ranking well on Google.
I believe that the Lord has allowed this to happen for a reason. I still don’t know how I can reach my non-Christian audience who have signed up to get Twitter blog posts and emails from me.
I’m just waiting on the Lord to show me something that I can do to reach them for Christ. I don’t want to depend upon my own wisdom on how to do this, I want to depend on God’s wisdom only.
That’s why Psalm 127:1 is one of my favorite scriptures.

Congratulations on a great year Peter! And thanks for all your help and support in 2014.
You are most welcome Kurt, it’s my pleasure 🙂
This is cool Pete, between your Blog and Kurts’ blog God will bless both of you and I cannot wait for the day when we are reunited with our Lord Jesus in eternity and looking at all the people that were affected to make a decision to follow Christ Jesus because of your obedience to the cross.
What a day it will be!!!
Amen to that Mirv, I’m looking forward to that day as well. Thanks for all the you do on social media Mirv, and for sharing the gospel. I’m so blessed to see how the Lord is using you to minister to people all over the world 🙂
I’d just like to pass on another way to help spread the gospel and it’s simply this:-
Include a link to an online gospel tract (e.g. http://www.freecartoontract.com/animation) as part of your email signature.
An email signature is a piece of customizable HTML or text that most email applications will allow you to add to all your outgoing emails. For example, it commonly contains name and contact details – but it could also (of course) contain a link to a gospel tract.
For example, it might say something like, “p.s. you might like this gospel cartoon …” or “p.s. have you seen this?”.
