[/alert]Have you ever wondered about what is the scientific evidence for the existence of God?

There are many people from all walks of life who wonder about the answer to this question.

When I was in college, I became an atheist. If you were to ask me about my beliefs in God at that time, I would say that there was no God or gods.

If you were to ask me about what I believed would happen after we die, I would tell you that the lights would just go out.

I would give you an analogy about how just like you push the power button on your remote control to turn off your TV, then that’s exactly what would happen to you after you die.

If you were to ask me about what I thought about religion, I would tell you that I thought that all religions were evil.

I would tell you that religion is the cause of so many killings and hate crimes in the world. The world would be a better place without it.

More than 15 years later, I now think differently.

I now believe that there is a God. I now believe that it’s not always religion that’s a problem, its people.

My beliefs about the afterlife have changed too. I now believe that after you die, you end up going somewhere for the rest of time.

If you’re interested in my story of how I changed my mind about my beliefs in God and the afterlife, then you can read about it over here.

In this article, I’m going to share with you what is the scientific evidence for the existence of God.

I’ve shared before an article about the logical or philosophical argument for the existence of God. All of the objections to this argument have really good answers, in my opinion.

Of course, I didn’t come up with this argument, Plato and Aristotle did back in the first century.

Still, when I share this article with atheists, some of them tell me that they want to see scientific evidence for the existence of God instead. So here it is.

If you don’t believe in God, then I hope this will be the beginning of your journey to find the truth.

If you do believe in God, then I hope that this article will be helpful to you the next time you share your faith.

What is the Scientific Evidence For the Existence of God?

You’re a unique person that has unique physical attributes. For example, think about the shape of your eyes, your mouth, the color of your hair.

All of you put together is unique, and unless you’re a twin, there’s nobody in the world that looks exactly like you.

DNA is scientific evidence existence of God

DNA is great scientific evidence for the existence of God.

That’s because of your DNA. Your DNA is the genetic makeup that gives you your unique physical characteristics.

It wasn’t until recently that we fully understood what DNA is.

In 1990, the Human Genome Project set out to determine the sequence of the chemical base pairs which make up human DNA.

It took 13 years to complete the decoding of DNA, and the results were eye-opening (source).

DNA is the scientific evidence for the existence of God.

3 Reasons Why DNA is Scientific Evidence For The Existence of God

1. DNA is a Language

I want you to imagine that you walk into a bookstore and you pick up a book that you find interesting.

You open up the book and you read the first sentence. It reads, “This is a story about love.”

What is it about those six words that made you understand what this book is about? I’d like to propose these two things:

1.  Meaning

Each word in the sentence above has a meaning. You know what words like “story, about” and “love” mean.

If these words didn’t mean anything to you, then you wouldn’t know how to pronounce them or understand them.

2.  Sequence

The fact that the words are in a certain sequence is important. The words are arranged in a certain way so that it creates a grammatically correct sentence that you can understand.

If the sentence above instead said, “story a love this about is,” then the sentence wouldn’t make much sense.

Making these two distinctions about language is important to you understanding how DNA is also a language.

If you were to open up a book and you found meaningful words that were put together in grammatically correct sentences, what evidence would you need to know that there was an author who wrote the book, even though you never met him or her?

The answer would be the linguistic sentences in the book are evidence that there was an author who wrote it.

Similarly, the language in DNA is evidence that there was an author who wrote the book to life.

What’s further fascinating about DNA is that after the human genome project was complete, it was discovered that it was composed of some 3 billion genetic letters.

Dr. Stephen Meyer[x_blockquote cite=”Dr. Stephen Meyer, The Discovery Institute” type=”left”]”One of the most extraordinary discoveries of the twentieth century was that DNA actually stores information, the detailed instructions for assembling proteins in the form of a four-character digital code.”[/x_blockquote]
The amount of information in human DNA is roughly the equivalent to 12 sets of The Encyclopedia Britannica, which is an incredible 384 volumes. DNA is so filled of detailed information, that it would fill 48 feet of library shelves! (source)

Some people will try to argue that evolution is responsible for the intricate language found in DNA. However, it’s impossible for a process like evolution, even if it was given billions of years, to come up with the language that we see in DNA.

There will be more about why this is the case in the section of this article called, “Answers to Counter-Arguments by Atheists.”

You also might be thinking that while there must be an intelligent source behind DNA, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the source is God. I’ll also be addressing this question later on in this article.

Romans 1:20

2. DNA is an Instruction Manual

The second interesting thing that we learn about DNA is that it’s an instruction manual.

nightstand

Just like a nightstand has a manual to help you assemble it, DNA acts as a manual to help assemble the cells in your body.

Imagine that you just bought a new nightstand to replace the one that you currently have in your bedroom.

Most nightstands these days come unassembled so that you can easily move the piece of furniture out of the store, into your car, and drive it to your home.

So as you are in your bedroom opening up your new unassembled nightstand, the first thing that you find when you open the box is the instruction manual.

You pick it up and as you begin reading it, you find that it says, “Take the wood panel labeled 1 and attach it to the wood panel labeled 2. Use one of the provided screws to fit the two panels together.”

The instructions give you, the assembler, all the information you need to put your nightstand together.

Likewise, DNA are instructions to your cells to put all of your living parts together.

If you bought your nightstand and looked at the instruction manual without ever meeting the author of the manual, what evidence would you need that there was an intelligent source behind the writing of the manual?

The answer would be that the manual itself is evidence that someone wrote it. You don’t need to meet the author of the manual to know that there was someone who wrote it.

Neither do you need to meet the designer of the nightstand to know that there was a designer.

Similarly, DNA instructions are evidence that Somebody wrote the manual to life.

Another way of looking at it is similar to that of writing code for a software program.  The code written by the programmers of the software instructs your computer to do certain things.

Likewise, the code in DNA instructs your cells to do certain things.  Obviously, there has to be an intelligent programmer behind all of this complex code.

Bill Gates[x_blockquote cite=”Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft” type=”left”]”DNA is like a software program, only much more complex than anything we’ve ever devised.”[/x_blockquote]

3. DNA is Mathematically Perfect

The alphabet that makes up the DNA language consists of only four letters.

They are denoted by the letters A, C, T, G. If you tend to be on the geeky side, then those letters stand for adenine, cytosine, thymine, and guanine.

These four makeup nucleotides that make up the strands of DNA. (source)

DNA needs to copy itself. In order to meet maximum efficiency, DNA requires the number of letters in each word to be an even number.

Of all the possible mathematical combinations, scientists have discovered that the ideal number for storage and transcription has been calculated to be exactly four letters. (source)

Werner Gitt[x_blockquote cite=”Werner Gitt, German Engineer” type=”left”]”The coding system used for living beings is optimal from an engineering standpoint. This fact strengthens the argument that it was a case of purposeful design, rather than a lucky chance.”[/x_blockquote]

The fact that DNA is mathematically perfect is a strong indicator that there was an intelligent designer that coded DNA for a specific purpose.

the Lord is the one who made us

Who is The Intelligent Designer Behind DNA?

So now that you’ve read about the evidence for an intelligent designer through DNA, you might be thinking why does that intelligent designer have to be God?

After all, a higher life form from another universe could be the designer behind DNA. Or the intelligent designer could be any god like the god of Islam, or maybe one of the gods of Hinduism.

So in this section I’m going to show you why that intelligent designer has to be the Christian God.

We know that our universe had a beginning in time. That means that before the universe began, there was no such thing as space, time, or matter.

We know that the universe did not come from nothing. Please see my article for more information.

Therefore, the intelligent designer that created the universe must have had the following attributes (source):

1.  Supernatural

The intelligent designer has to exist outside of the natural world because nature itself was created at the same time when the universe was created.

2.  Spaceless

There was no such thing as space before the universe began.  Therefore, the intelligent designer must exist outside of space because He created space a long time ago.

3.  Immaterial

The intelligent designer must be immaterial because He created matter.

4.  Powerful

The intelligent designer must be powerful because He created something (this universe) out of nothing.

5.  Intelligent

The designer must be intelligent because the universe was designed to sustain life and all of its complexities.

6.  Personal

The intelligent designer must be personal because it decided to convert a state of nothing into something. Impersonal forces don’t have the ability to make choices.

When you examine all the intelligent designers that claim to have created the universe, you see that there’s only One that is said to have all of these qualities.

That is the God of the Bible.

the only real god is the God of the bible

Answers to Counter-Arugments by Atheists

Even though the scientific evidence of DNA clearly points to an intelligent designer, atheists like to make counter-arguments to some of these points.

In this section I’ll be answering the most popular ones.

1. Evolution is Responsible for DNA

Atheists like to claim that evolution is responsible for DNA. They say that given billions of years and given random chance, then it’s possible to create a sophisticated language and database like the one found in DNA.

However, I’d like to point out that this is an impossibility. There is no intelligence behind evolution. Just think of this example.

Imagine you’re flying in one of those airplanes that skydivers jump out of. With you on the plane, you take a bag of red, white, and blue confetti that are made up of thousands of little pieces.

Red white and blue confetti

Throwing a bag of red, white, and blue confetti out of an airplane billions of times will never create a US flag.

When you’re flying in the sky, you throw out the bag of confetti out of the plane.

What are the chances that the pieces of red, white, and blue confetti would fall perfectly, and create a picture of the United States flag as they fall to the ground?

The odds of that happening is a mathematical impossibility. Why?

That’s because you don’t need lots and lots of time in order to arrange the red, white, and blue confetti into a United States flag.

You need an intelligent designer that has a purpose of putting the pieces together. (source)

Likewise, you need an intelligent designer to put all of the complex pieces of life together.

Just how impossible is it for evolution to be responsible for the complexity that we see in our universe? The answer is 10 to the power of 60.

That number, if written out, would be “one” followed by sixty “zeros.”  You can read more about the mathematical impossibility of evolution in this article.

Some scientists say that they’ve demonstrated that natural selection can produce changes in DNA.

Changes to DNA through natural selection isn’t disputed by creationists.  This level of evolution is known as microevolution.

However, what creationists do dispute is changes to DNA at the macroevolution level.

Macroevolution states that given billion of years, one kind of organism can turn into a different kind by adding new information to DNA.

However, this claim has never been observed as shown in this movie here.

2. An Unknown Intelligent Designer is Responsible For DNA

There are some atheists that agree that an intelligent designer is responsible for DNA.

However, they reject the God of Christianity as being that designer, and they instead propose that the intelligent designer is still unknown.

What they are alluding to as the source of intelligent design are an unknown higher life form, like for example, aliens.

They’re basically saying that there’s a possibility that there’s an intelligent life source out there in our universe that we don’t know about yet, that is the intelligent designer behind DNA.

Or they even might say that the intelligent designer exists outside of our universe.

In either case, this is just a stall tactic to buy time and avoid giving an answer.

Atheists love to say things like, “We don’t know the answer but we are making new scientific discoveries every day. We just know that the answer is not your God.”

Well that’s a problem because it always gives atheists a way out of the argument.

But the truth of the matter is that there is a God.  There is an afterlife.  God will hold people accountable for their choices.

There’s also a heaven and a hell. The choices you make in this world will determine where you spend eternity.

DNA is Proof That There is a God

Even though I’ve demonstrated in this article that the scientific evidence leads to the conclusion that there is a God, some atheists will still not be convinced.

It’s not because atheists know that God doesn’t exist.  The bottom line is that deep inside atheists know that there is a god, but they’ve suppressed the truth in their unrighteousness.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.”

-Romans 1:18-19

I should know about this, after all, I used to be an atheist.

During that time I didn’t want to be accountable to God. I wanted to live life on my own terms.

So I ended up partying, going to nightclubs, and doing all sorts of bad things that left me lonely and depressed.

But God brought me back to Him after eight years of living a sinful life.

John 20:29

    1. I know there is a god because many people over the years ask how did the first woman get here? Also how did the first man get here? If there is an evil there is a god look at the hundreds of exorcisim videos by the catholic church then look at the power of good over evil and the out come. They say the universe started by the big bang by energy and light but if thats the case then how did the energy and light get here? my answer its always been here and i believe the world has always been here and this alien life is only fallen angels that have no where to go and they are the evil entity that is waiting for the punished after you die.

  1. Excellent article Peter! I love the way you laid this out for people. I too left the Lord, actually I ran away from Him for a long time. At that point I would always say that there was a “higher being, a higher form of intelligence” but not God. 🙂 I think even then I knew better but it made me feel ok with leaving the Lord behind. How foolish I was…

If you look at the world as a whole, it seems to me that the world spends a lot of time denying there is a God, why is that? Could it be because many realize deep down inside that there IS a God? But realizing this and then admitting it requires action and a change in life – that does not go over so good with many who are determined to continue living solely “for me”.

Are those who deny God the loudest the ones who wonder if maybe, just maybe there really is a God? I wonder…

Blessings to you brother for always standing for the truth, you inspire me. 🙂

    1. Awww, thanks so much Greg for your very kind words 🙂 I give all the glory to God for anything good that comes out of this blog.

I totally agree with you about people denying that God exists when deep down inside, they know that He exists. The problem is that a lot of times people don’t realize the truth because their conscience is seared, and they are constantly running away from the emptiness that they feel inside.

I think John 3:19 says it best, “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

Sometimes I try to keep my blog posts a little bit shorter but when it comes to topics like this, I don’t have much of a choice but to go long. I hope longer blog posts don’t bother you, Greg 🙂

      1. Agreed here!

No not all! If it is relevant and there is more to say, then go for it (not that you need my permission – ha ha). I too write some longer posts, just wrote one myself on TOBR. 🙂
Amazing how long it takes to write some things isn’t it? Keep writing bro – we need you!

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you Peter and your family!

  2. DNA is no more a language then naming the colors of the rainbow. There is no language. Just definitions for chemical reactions.

By the way, who created God? How do you get a sophisticated consciousness, before a set a rules and then substance to make such a being…..and please don’t give me the lame argument that God is uncreated by *definition*.

      1. Seriously? Don’t insult my intelligence. All arguments from ignorance. Subjective nonsense.

If you think their is an intelligent designer, then this designer is a hack. 99.999..% of the universe is incompatible to carbon based life.

Sorry, but I’m rather fond of science. Especially Cosmology, Quantum Mechanics, Biology, and others.
All I’ve seen is science consistently provide solutions to everything that supposedly Gawd did.
Name 1 time where a supernatural answer ever trumped a natural, scientific explanation anytime, ever. Never.

        Anyway…sorry, but no god required.

          1. CARM? Lol. Matt Slick is a scientifically illiterate idiot. Logically inept, and philosophically retarded. He’s a walking fallacy machine. Sorry, but apologists come in two flavors. Ignorant of the facts, which is somewhat excusable. Or a liar. Slick seems to be most of the latter. I’ve seen some of his work on Youtube. His debates with other skeptics. Its quite sad to know that someone like him is looked to for guidance by believers in the faith.

…..and the worst thing that I admit, is that I used to believe the fallacious, pseudo scholarship of the likes of him and William Lane Craig.

Whenever you ask them to prove their god beliefs, all you get is that you got to feel it, wish it, or just believe me that its true, or the bible says so. Zero evidence, and fallacy arguments.

So what’s next? The Discovery Institute? Creation Reasearch Ministries? Hack-Apologist-of-the-week Club?

  5. I consider myself as a devoted Christian and believer of God. I do believe that there are scientific reasons to believe in our Lord. But under any circumstance I believe in creationism… whatever the reasons a creationist tries to argue they just don’t make sense.
Real science does not counter truth. And God himself is the Truth, therefore science is a very good path to understand him better.
I am sorry, but creationism cannot be, and will never be, any form of science. And I pray to God our savior so that all creationists finally see the light.

Hi Johny, thank you very much for leaving your comment. I’m not sure I fully understood the point that you were trying to make.

May I please ask you if you can elaborate more on what are the creationist arguments that you are not a fan of? Maybe that will help me understand what you’re trying to say better.

      Sorry about that.

  8. First, let me acknowledge the sincerity of your belief, which I have no interest in trying to change. (After all, people don’t get to *choose* their beliefs–or, to put it more accurately, what they find believable and don’t find believable.) You’re a god-believer, and you’re going to believe.

Second, in the discussion above the fundamental error–one made by many people, including lots of unbelievers (who have the least excuse!)–is in thinking that IF a) there was a “deity” involved when things began, THEN b) perforce that same being must be operating in the universe today: occasionally breaking the universe’s physical laws (so as to work miracles), and requiring worship/obedience. But going from a to b is NOT an automatic logical step!

None of us was present when the universe, or Earth, or life on Earth, or mankind began, so none of us can know *for certain* EXACTLY what happened. But whenever you think those events took place, *that was then*…and what you believe, and want others to believe, is not just that there WAS a “god” operating in the universe, back in the day, but that there IS one. Well, whatever might have happened In The Beginning is no evidence for (or, to be fair, against!) the notion that there is a supernatural being *with the potential to affect us* operating NOW–those are separate propositions that must be proved separately.

To convince someone (who doesn’t already share your belief) of a “god” that’s *currently* at work, you’re going to have to give *current* evidence. There doesn’t seem to be any of that…and speculation about events that occurred thousands, millions, or billions of years ago doesn’t qualify.

I wish you well. Please don’t hurt other people, and please don’t try to enlist the power of government to impose your beliefs on others. I’ll return the favor.

    1. Thank you for your comment. I always welcome views even when they are different than mine.

There is plenty of evidence for a God existing in our world today. Some people have left atheism after examining this evidence. Other people didn’t find this evidence to be convincing. Since some people have left atheism and others haven’t, we have to come to the conclusion that evidence is something that’s subjective.

Notice also that I didn’t use the word proof, but the word evidence, as in a court trial. You can present your case in front of a jury in two different courts and get two different verdicts. It’s always going to be up to you.

  9. The GOD mentioned in bible is the same one GOD for Muslims, I don’t know why you have put that comment about islam god in such a nice article.

    1. Hi Shai, thank you for your comment. There are some differences between the God of the Bible and the God of Islam. Each God requires different things of his followers. Additionally, the method to get into heaven is also different in both religions.

If you’re interested in more information about the differences, please let me know and I can send you a link to an article.

      Thanks Shai!

  13. I am an ex-Evangelical Christian. Unlike you, I remain convinced that there are probably no Gods or no supernatural. You mention DNA. Well, while DNA is complex, it also shows that all life, including humans, is related. We find that humans and chimpanzees are closely related, sharing a common ancestor. If complexity is evidence of God, then evolution is evidence the Bible creation story is false. So a God cannot be the God you believe in. Look at biologos.org, a Christian site that works on consolidating science and Christian faith for more info.

But I did not deconvert because of evolution or DNA. I deconverted after testing the claims of the Bible that apply to today (for example, Jesus promising that nothing will be impossible for believers (Matt. 17:20), promising that believers will do miracles that Jesus performed (John 14:12), promising answers to prayer, etc…) Those claims are all false when tested. There is nothing that is possible for a Christian that is not possible for an atheist. Therefore, Jesus’ promises are worthless. He cannot be a God.

Hi Vlad, I can understand how that makes sense to you right now. I’ve had other ex-Christians also share with me similar experiences to yours. Some have remained atheists. Others are currently agnostic. And a few of them have returned back to the Christian faith.

For those once ex-Christians who made it back to the Christian faith after turning to atheism, they say that they now see things from a different perspective. They say that they once had misunderstandings of the Bible and Christianity. But once they became Christians again, they saw things in a different light.

  14. hello,
I have read your article and the evidence has not convinced me that a god exists. though I do believe in god I cant seem to find your counter argument to be substantial. there have been many experiments done to prove that evolution exists and by saying this is wrong is to say the many scientists are wrong. I still do believe in god but if I was an atheist this article would not convince me. (I do however have my own ideas and thoughts). also by saying it has to be the christen god is to say that god before Jesus was not all of those necessary traits(A.K.A the Jewish God). also I don’t really see how this is not related to Islamic(which is based off of Christianity).so please explain your reasoning to me.(I also like to talk philosophically)

  16. it is true that one should not state that there is no god, because he does not know everything, but the current knowledge presented does not support this. for “Everything That Was Brought into Existence Had a Cause” the reasoning of science is evolution. Anything that is not useful uses up energy. You said that “o Stephen Hawking’s statement that there is no God is obviously false”(Guirguis) but logically this MAY not be true. This does not however mean that there is no possibility that there is a god for a god(s) could exist. I do however like the statement “God lives outside of time and space”(Guirguis) because that was similar to the theory I came up with when I was young. (this reminded me of the time, when I was young, when I came up with a way to achieve true peace while working on a garden(which I later disproved)[random comment]). I also just saw on the page “Using logic, it’s impossible to prove that something or someone doesn’t exist”(Guirguis) which actually was one of my earliest theories I thought up (without the using logic part(which was thought up later)) when walking home from elementary school (possibly middle) which developed over time and became my leading theory. Also I thank you for continuing this article as it has helped me find some of my old theories.

  20. From the article “Who is The Intelligent Designer Behind DNA?”(Guirguis).
If a god has to have necessary traits in order to design DNA and only the christen god has those traits then that says that the Jewish God could not have created DNA because he is not the necessary traits even though the christen god came from the Jewish God.
this is what I meant by saying, “also by saying it has to be the christen god is to say that god before Jesus was not all of those necessary traits(A.K.A the Jewish God)”(previous comments).

Why do I have serious genetic mutations (which is part of evolution if you didn’t know) and life threatening phenotype-manifestations of said mutations? My parents both believe in God, I used to, and yet I have harmful genetic mutation. Also the countless scientific studies conducted to undeniably prove micro and macro evolution.

That is of course ignoring the fallacy under which you are operating: this being that you are saying scientific fields as a whole are wrong (eg: genetic) by using “evidence” from those very field which you claim to be fallacious. Talk about circular reasoning.

Evolutionists typically cite examples of natural selection and claim that they’re evidence of evolution. But natural selection, or adaptation, is simply variations within a kind and has nothing to do with Darwinian evolution. Though it’s sometimes known as microevolution, the fact is that nothing actually evolves during “microevolution.”

For example, look at the variety within the dog family, or kind—from the tiny Chihuahua to the huge Great Dane. They have incredible differences, but they are still dogs. Within the horse kind are the donkey, zebra, draft horse, and the dwarf pony.

Despite their distinctions, all are horses. There are huge variations within humankind, from Asian to African to Aboriginal to Caucasian. But we are all within the same species, Homo sapiens.

Darwin’s theory of evolution, however, is based on the concept of macroevolution. This is the inference that small variations within a kind can accumulate and lead to large changes over long periods of time. One kind of creature (such as a reptile) will supposedly become another kind of creature (such as a bird), requiring the creation of entirely new features and body types.

As Stephen J. Gould said, “No one denies that selection will play a negative role in eliminating the unfit. Darwinian theories require that it create the fit as well.”

The first problem we find is that the variations we see in adaptation are always within limits set by the genetic code. Fifty years of genetic research on the fruit fly have convinced evolutionists that change is limited and confined to a defined population. Despite being bombarded with mutation agents for half a century, the mutant fruit flies continue to exist as fruit flies, leading geneticists to acknowledge that they will not evolve into something else. This confirms Gregor Mendel’s findings in the 1800s that there are natural limits to genetic change.

So there is no scientific evidence for macroevolution. Scientific evidence means that it is evidence that follows the six steps of the scientific method.

  24. Hello Peter, Greetings from Canada, I believe that there might be a possibility of a god(s), and the only real thing holding me back is I just don’t care, I don’t care to find evidences of a theoretical being, or to force a train of thought apon people; to me that’s a useless endeavor which just makes people angry and opinionated at each other, ignorance is bliss after all, I like to focus on what is important what will have a more immediate affect on humanity, such as the energy crisis. or the fact that governments are corrupt, so to be honest I have no time nor patients for a community bent on proving that science is proof of god, as it is not beneficial to the grater good of humanity.
know you can go on with how religion gives people hope, and faith, but in reality its just a place to escape from the harshness or reality, a bubble that gives false hope to a people that are afraid, but the only way this can truly be vanquished ( the harshness or reality) is by facing that fact you can’t, and that life sucks, and that we may never have a definitive answer to the existence of god, or the meaning of life, and so if you stop thinking about it, and just deal with the day to day problems one by one, and just stop caring for useless, and meaningless endeavors life becomes just a bit more bearable.
lastly people need to embrace, and cherish the things that they have like family, friends, and if fortunate enough a place to live, and a roof above their head rather than wishing for a better life, for more money, a better house, a fancy car, and just except the fact your life will only get better if you try your hardest to have a better life instead of dreaming for a better life.
Sorry I got a bit side tracked, and off topic (a bit) but yeah I just wanted to state my opinion even if it may never have a reply, and that the information gathered in this article is, in fact quit interesting, even if it may be fact, or fiction, and that everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if its right, or wrong.

Hi Peter, thank you very much for sharing your opinion on the subject. I appreciate your upfront honesty. And I’m glad that you are open that there is a possibility of there being a God. Now let me address, if I may, the ultimate reason why I think you should care. Just like you, I’m also sharing my opinion on the subject.

Okay Peter, here is the MOST IMPORTANT question of your life: Will you go to Heaven when you die?

Here’s a quick test: How many lies have you told in your life? Personally, I have told like a million lies ever since I was a kid. That’s a lot!

The Bible says that if we tell lies then we are liars. I’m sure you’ve told lies before too.

Have you ever stolen something even if it was something small? Most probably your answer is, “Yes.”

When I was a kid, I stole a toy from a store because my mom wouldn’t buy it for me. Then my mom found out and she made me return it to the store owner. It was so embarrassing.

When I was older, I stole pens and paper clips from the company that I worked for. I would take them home and use them for my own personal use. That’s considered stealing too. There’s a chance that you probably took something that wasn’t yours too when you were a kid, or when you were older.

      On to the next question.

Have you ever used God’s name in vain, like saying “God da**”? That’s called blasphemy and it is a serious sin in God’s eyes. That’s because you’re taking the name of the God who gave you life, and are using it as a curse word.

How about this: Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a person to lust after them has already committed adultery with them in their heart.” Have you ever looked upon someone with sexual desire? Most probably your answer is yes. (just like me, I’ve done this a bunch of times).

If you have done these things, Peter, then God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that one day you will face judgment.

On Judgement Day, will God find you innocent or guilty of doing these sins? If you’re honest, then the answer will be that you’re guilty.

Will you go to heaven or hell? The answer is obvious. If you’re guilty, then God will allow you to go to a terrible place called hell. It’s a place of torment and tremendous pain for the rest of time.

But God does not want you to go to hell, and He did something for you so you wouldn’t have to go there. This is what He did.

Imagine you’re standing in front of a judge who is about to sentence you for breaking several laws. All of a sudden, Jesus walks in and tells the judge, “Judge, please take the punishment that you’re about to give to Peter, and give it to Me instead, and let him go free.” This means that your case can be dismissed before the judge as long as you agree to Jesus’ terms and conditions.

Jesus’ terms and conditions are that you have to be sorry for your sins, you have to ask God for forgiveness, and you have to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. You accept Jesus as your Savior the same way that you would accept a life jacket from a life guard when you’re drowning in the ocean. You can’t swim your way out to save your life, but the life jacket will make you float to the top and will save you.

If you do these things, then you’ll find yourself genuinely repenting of your sins. Repenting means to change your mind about doing the bad things that we all do in our lives.

Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. I hope that makes sense, Peter.

  25. I found your site in searching the web for information to help my atheist friend learn about God. Thank you for the clear and simple answers I can understand and relay to my friend as she bombards me with the thoughts and rumors she has always relied on. I know we will be both learning a lot this year. Thank you Holy Spirit!

  29. Cosmological concept which is complete from logical point of view
Initial composition of boundless space from the point of view of element:
1.It is suffucient to declare existence of two elements, SIMPLE and COMPLEX, possesing closed systemic appearance in order to imagine different (homogenous) and completed one.
2.It is sufficient to declare existence of Lord and Almighty in other element, possesing non-closed systematic appearance in order to imagine it as different and incomplete as heterogenous (in other words: various type).
It is not difficult to presume that simple and complex compression is happened in possible minimal widening from permanent widening level, first, inclination to descending, from material component of God from non-material component of Divine Spirit/separation happened as maximum possible diversity (1H) on essence of God on minimum possible numeric homogeneity regarding with blockage of start of non-material components, permanently widening, inclined to their increase of essence/God widens minimal possible homogeneity as maximum possible numeric diversity (2H) to His essence on the basis of 1H material components. Closing process starts only from time, known to God, starting from completion of 2 H opening process. Closing process reopens according to initial opening level of Divine Spirit 1H-1H process of God to 2H process and conversion possibilities of 2H process to 1 H process!

  30. “It’s neat and complicated so God did it.”
Just because you have a fundamental misunderstanding about science and use terminology such as “obviously” and “conclusively” doesn’t make your argument sound.
You seem very confident so please tell me: why exactly is it scientifically impossible for DNA to have evolved and to be evolving? Please someone explain using reasoning a simpleton atheist like me could comprehend.
Do you think I deserve to go to hell? Do you think I deserve ETERNAL torture for my mindset?
Also, let this comment through your screening. If your reasoning is sound then you have nothing to worry about and I’ll be easily proven wrong by dozens of people.
    Thanks Peter.

  31. Here’s the issue though. The article I linked, which you obviously didn’t read, gave an example of speciation; this immediately invalidates everything upon which your argument is based. Speciation is macroevolution to the extent of warping genetic information (through textbook Darwinian Natural Selection) so extremely that the new population can no longer breed with the initial species to produce fertile offspring.
Yes, ponies and zebras and race horses are all horses, and they can even produce offspring sometimes, but said offspring is not fertile. Mules for example: a hybrid, but not fertile. They’re all horses, but natural (or artificial in agricultural settings) selection promoted certain mutation strains in different geographical circumstances from an original common ancestor. This produced separate species.
In a botanical example from the article I linked – since you elected not to glance at it: “there were the two new species of American goatsbeards (or salsifies, genus Tragopogon) that sprung into existence in the past century. In the early 1900s, three species of these wildflowers – the western salsify (T. dubius), the meadow salsify (T. pratensis), and the oyster plant (T. porrifolius) – were introduced to the United States from Europe. As their populations expanded, the species interacted, often producing sterile hybrids. But by the 1950s, scientists realized that there were two new variations of goatsbeard growing. While they looked like hybrids, they weren’t sterile. They were perfectly capable of reproducing with their own kind but not with any of the original three species – the classic definition of a new species” (Wilcox 3).
    Maybe read it this time.

Brendan, first of all, consider this your first warning. Your tone of voice in your comments is on the verge of being snarky. I do not tolerate snarky remarks as outlined in my comments policy. If you choose to continue to make snarky remarks, then you will be banned from leaving comments on my website. You may review my comments policy by clicking here https://notashamedofthegospel.com/comments-policy/

Second of all, I did read the article that you posted which is why I responded the way that I did. In the example that you cited that was also in the article, it does not show that one KIND evolved into a different KIND altogether. So the example that you shared, the two new species of American goats birds are still at the end of the day plants. However, this is not a change in KINDS that I was referring to.

Here’s what I mean. There’s the canine kind—the dog and the coyote. There’s the feline kind—the domestic cat and the lion, and there’s humankind or mankind . . . Darwin spoke of the change of kinds which literally would mean a cat (from the feline kind) would evolve into a dog (from the canine kind). However, there is no scientific evidence that demonstrates a change of kinds. Now, do you get what I’m trying to say?

  32. You say that evidence must follow a six step scientific method to be valid. There is not a single point in your entire article that does this. Please elaborate.
Also, you know that Stephen J. Gould quote that you hung onto? Here’s another more recent quote for you:
“Nothing is more dangerous than a dogmatic worldview – nothing more constraining, more blinding to innovation, more destructive of openness to novelty.”
    -Stephen J. Gould

One last thing: You might try to turn this quote around on me and say something along the lines of “I’m not close-minded, you’re close-minded.”
    Don’t.
My world view can change when new evidence or studies emerge. Your dogmatic perspective isn’t an evil or vile thing in my eyes, but don’t try to pass it off as science. That’s low, especially for someone who’s entire argument is based off of the idea that science is wrong.

  33. Thanks BIG Bro. why do we have to go round before admitting this fact basic truth about the MASTER of all time.I have asked myself so many questions about God, The GODHEAD, The TRINITY, The SPIRITUAL and so on in my youthful age.And around my 50 that i m getting to understand these truth. No more time for me to waste when i would have gain a lot in teenage time, i feel so much ashamed of myself now but i have to move on.
Once again i m grateful bro.

  34. I feel sorry for you buddy…the second you die you’ll know you were completely wrong of God’s existence and then It’s too late….

  35. I know this is a waste of my time every time I post this argument against there being a god I get censored. Believers don’t want to hear my scientific reason why I know there is no God. Adam and Eve was kicked out of the garden of Edan supposedly because of Eve eating fruit from the forbidden tree. God supposedly told them to go forth and multiply There are multiply scientific flaws in this It would lead to commenting a grave sin called incest by there children. Adam and Eve had many children of there own. But this children would have to after reaching puberty have to had sex with each other. In order to follow God order to be fruitful and multiply. You do know what happens to babies who are born of incest severe deformity’s both mental and physically. And it get worse with ever generation. If they even lived we would be the most screwed up animal on planet earth today.

Your point, Howard, is easily refuted. Adam and Eve lived thousands of years ago. The bloodline was clean and so you don’t have the same issues that would be a result from incest if that were to happen today. Your point is not an issue at all.

  36. Brother Peter, I just finished reading your article and all the comments from 11-19-14. It has all been such an interesting discussion. I am convinced that most of those who refrain from following Jesus do so because Satan has covered their hearts and minds with worldly philosophies, because of their own fleshly reasoning and desires, or because of followers of Jesus, Sometimes we can be harsh and judgmental The message everyone needs to hear and consider, which you have presented, is that God loved us all so much that He gave His only Son that whoever trusts in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus died for us while people were sinning against Him and even though He knew we would sin against Him. He shed His blood and died an unspeakably miserable death upon the cross beyond any human comprehending. He paid our sin debt because there would never be any possibility we could pay it ourselves or help pay it. Then He rose from the dead in victory and triumph over sin, death, hell, and the grave. He now sits at the Father’s right hand interceding for us. People need to repent and confess they are sinners and trust in Jesus for forgiveness of sins and eternal life. God is not revealing Himself to us to beat us over the head. Rather, He wants to share His great love with us, then He wants us to share it with others. The gospel is joyous, the gospel is victorious, the gospel is eternal. How beautiful upon the mountaintops are the feet of him who brings good news, of tidings of the gospel of peace. Keep at it, brother! You are filling a void, you are doing a good work. I will pray for you.

  37. I teresting read. Its funny because you are trying to rationalise some of the things I’ve personally experienced first hand for myself which only further backs up my belief in God. A few years ago I had a death experience. My consciousness left my body and I saw how we are all a part of God, how we all came from God, how God is in us all, knows all our thoughts, all we do and sees everything. I saw how we are all connected back to the universe and how we are all one. I’ve seen the universe written as code, the most perfectly written piece of code you could never imagine. I’ve seen how we are eternal, that our souls live forever, but there is no hell, not as we know it anyway. God is most definitely real and the only thing that absolutely terrifies me. I saw that at the start of the universe there was nothing… Then God ripped itself into existence from nothing bringing with it all life, the universe and so so much more outside of our universe we could possibly never truly know or comprehend. My consciousness has left my body and I’ve physically felt my form change shape into an orb… I transformed into an orb covered in billions of tiny sensors I could feel with my fingertips but each sensor was more than just touch.. But also an emotion. My human emotions and vision amplified by hundreds of thousands making me realise that our experiences on earth are absolutely filtered and watered down from what is actually possible in the world above. Earth is like a 1960s black and white TV. When you experience existence through your soul its like a 100.000k ultra high definition TV… And you don’t need eyes to see. I have connected my consciousness or soul to what can only ever be explained as Nirvana (twice) … The most INCREDIBLE feeling of love you could never imagine. God is most definitely real. I have personally experienced all these things and I think about it every day.

  38. But how do I prove this to my DIL who used to be a Christian and who has determined she’s ND, pan, “they”, omni-sexual, pro choice and pro science and an agnostic…and raising my grandchildren to believe like her.

I believe she’s only going the agnostic route negate deep in her heart she only wants to be given “permission” to be all those labels. I’m at a loss. I can only pray. If I give my opinion or interfere, I’ve been told I will be excluded from my son and grandchildrens lives.
